A drink made with herbs, leaves, roots, bark, fruit and/or combinations thereof. It is different from regular tea.
It is not a true Camelia Sinensis (tree plant) that produces black, green or white tea. There is a growing trend to differentiate between the two. Herbal teas are referred to as “tisane" "botanical," or "infusion."
Herbal teas have a long recorded history, dating back to ancient China and Egypt, where tisanes were drunk for enjoyment and medicinal purposes. In this region we hear anecdotes about the use of herbal teas.
Brewing times and proportions for tisanes (herbal teas) vary widely. It depends on the quantity and how strong and potent you want it to be. You can allow for two minutes or as long as 15 minutes. In terms of quantity, you may require as little as a pinch of plant material per cup of water or as much as several tablespoons per cup. The packaging has details of what we recommend for each blend.
